Sin by Franz Von Stuck. 1893. Oil on canvas. Eve depicted as a femme fatale, the temptress responsible for the fall of all mankind. Von Stuck has strayed from depicting her as a victim of the snake, who can just barely be seen on her shoulder. Instead, she’s a seductive accomplice. Her shadowed suggestive expression, bare torso, and long tendril of hair the “points” to her vagina all lend themselves to Eve as the seductress.
